fans of the Real Housewives of New York City know Heather Thomson as one cheeky gal with a penchant for peppering her sentences with urban slang that give her maj street cred in nyc among uptown JAPS and downtown gangstas alike. now, die hard fans of Real Housewives of NYC know that underneath all the “hollas” and “motherf*ckers” (we couldn’t bring ourselves to write out the whole word…shocking, we know) is a woman whose family is A-numero uno in her heart and whose thriving fashion business is on her brain 24/7.
we were first introduced to Heather in the first 10 minutes of season 5 of Real Housewives at a party hosted by miss sonja tremont morgan. donned in a red silk bow tie dress (bow tie undone, natch) with a sexy front thigh high slit cinched with a black obi-like leather cage belt, ramona compliments Heather on her chic ensemble. Heather graciously flashes her black Yummie lace trimmed slip that was already peeking out from under her dress and gives a shout out to her brand “and this is my Yummie, thank god…”. to be honest, we had never heard of Yummie until that moment, but have since purchased and loved pieces from the collection…credited to that scene. so raise your glass to a savvy business woman who is not afraid to publicize her cause at the hands of a medium which will hopefully be referred to in the future as the fall of television programming (sorry bravo, we miss the family sitcom)! choice of platform aside, this gal puts herself out there every week despite how judgey wudgey people can be of reality stars, to bring awareness to what is important to her. you go mama!
Yummie by Heather Thomson was created after Heather had her first child and was looking for a shapewear line that didn’t make her feel like a 10lb sausage in a 5lb bag. with already over 15 years of design experience under her belt and gigs with p.diddy, beyonce and j.lo, Heather had the fashion chops and all around chutzpah to start Yummie. more than just a shapewear line, Yummie, is a collection of slimming pieces, flattering denim and undergarments that are sexy and stylish. Heather’s Real Housewives tag line from last season says it best…“my success is built on making woman look and feel their best, holla!” (or “hola!” as sonja said, mimicking Heather’s famous catch phrase in a recent episode…oh god, do we watch too much housewives. bravo, you win)
in addition to introducing the masses to fashion-forward shapewear, Heather has also brought attention to a cause that is close to her heart. committed to raising awareness for organ donation, Heather often talks about the liver transplant her son Jax received as a baby. becuase of this experience, Heather is deeply involved with the New York Organ Donor Network and an active board member of the Kellner Liver Foundation.
