valentine’s day is here. and, if you’re like me, your eyes just rolled into the back of your head. but instead of moping over not having a bae, why not embrace the cutesy commercialism of it all…valentine’s & heartshaped cookies? bring it!
the following is a sort of survival guide to get you through v-day in one piece:
honestly, the last time i really thought about them was in sixth grade when i’d eagerly await receiving them from friends and “admirers.” in recent years, “admirers” have turned into stalkers, so i kind of just gave up. but, when i got to thinking about it, how cute is it to get/give little “love” letters from/to your bffs and other cuties? this year, instead of being a love-grinch, be festive, and make (or buy) super cute valentine’s for all of you friends. super creative? show us your stuff by posting to instagram using #deuxvday. we’ll repost our favorites (ummmmmm…we will paul?)
whether you’re single or just not that into it, valentine’s day themed parties can be the worst! trust me, i know. the only thing worse than couples being all coupley is being stuck in a room full of coupley couples. BARF ME OUT! so, before you drive off a bridge in a v-day rage, try just enjoying yourself…it’s just like any other party! dress the part. wear pink and red, drink pink champagne (just not too much), and, who knows? maybe this year you’ll find your very own special valentine.
for many, this is the hardest–and best–part about valentine’s day. you’ve been good for so long, and now, all of a sudden, BOOM: cookies, love hearts (with the little sayings like “HUG ME” and “BE MINE” or, if you prefer, there are the fun kind that say “EAT SHIT” or “FUCK ME,” which are totally cute too, obvs), and chocolates. my philosophy on the whole thing goes as follows: YOU DESERVE IT! i’m not saying binge out and power chug a heartshaped box of chocolate, but enjoy yourself. just be prepared to get out your lulu’s and hit the gym hard next week! alas, cookies might be as good as it gets this valentine’s day!
whether you have someone special in your life, or you’re your own special person, have fun this valentine’s day. it really doesn’t need to be that stressful!
